Zambia – Kitwe [2]

Atlasville, 28 July 2008

Just back this evening from Zambia, where I again stayed in the same first-floor room of a guesthouse in Kitwe, overlooking the garden. So just after sunrise and just before sunset I am able to watch the avian visitors to the garden at close quarters.

Commonest resident, seen every day of every visit so far is the Speckled Mousebird. Some new additions to the list this time around too. My first Zambian sighting of Holub’s Golden Weaver and a lifer with Black-faced Canary. Until I saw some adult birds I wasn’t sure about this one, so I’m hoping it is a juvenile Collared Sunbird.
