South Africa – Marievale Bird Sanctuary [2]

Atlasville, 8 Jan 2006

Arriving back from our trip to the northern Kruger Park I discovered that a rare visitor to inland South Africa had pitched up at my ‘home patch’, Marievale. A pair of Black-tailed Godwit had been wowing the local birders for the past few days while I’d been in Kruger. Not wishing to miss out and though I’d been to Marievale exactly one week ago before the Kruger trip, I shot through to Marievale this morning and very quickly located the birds. Obviously everyone else had already seen the birds as I had them all to myself.
